UMaine Parking Lot To Transform Into A Drive-In Movie Spot This Weekend
These days, as Covid-19 is on the rise and seems to be ever-present on everyone's mind, it can be hard to find activities for both big and small that would finish off these last two weeks before school on a high point.
If you're looking for something fun and family-friendly to do this weekend, that's also a bit on the safer side, you might want to consider taking in a "drive-in" movie in Orono Friday or Saturday. A local cell phone company has decided to transform one of the parking lots on the University of Maine campus in Orono, into an old-fashioned "Drive-In" and will be featuring a family-friendly flick, for free.
UScellular will present a free drive-in movie, showing Shrek 2, to Bangor area residents on Friday, Aug. 20, and Saturday, Aug. 21.
Area residents can sign up for one of 150 spots each night. There are still spots available. The movie will take place at the University of Maine, at the Belgrade Parking Lot, gates open at 6:15 PM, and the movie will start at 7:45 PM.
We're told everyone in attendance will also receive a free goodie basket with popcorn, candy, and water.
This is the second year the phone company has helped host the "Movie Under the Stars" program for area families. They say they had more than 9,000 people take part last year in over 10 cities across the nation. Spots are reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis.
