Police on Monday said the homemade cookies thought to cause intoxication among several members of a Bangor daycare on Feb. 14 contained no controlled substances.

On Valentine's Day, staff at the Watch Me Shine daycare at 28 Gilman Plaza reported feeling intoxicated after eating cookies brought in by a parent.

Investigators from the Criminal Investigation Division responded and collected several of the cookies for testing.

Those cookies were sent to the state crime lab for analysis and after thorough testing, none of the cookies tested positive for controlled substances, according to police.

The cause of the staff’s feeling of intoxication is currently unknown. There are no charges pending.
