
Can’t Connect? Verizon Wireless Is Down Nationwide, It’s Not Just Mainers Missing Their Calls
No, you didn't forget to pay that bill (well, at least, we don't think you did!)
Hundreds of thousands of Verizon Wireless customers are without service, the company says, after it was hit by a nationwide outage Wednesday morning.

In a statement release on the social media platform X, Verizon said they were aware of the problem and actively working to repair the situations.
Many users reported seeing only "SOS mode" options to call out, which simply means the phone has lost it's primary cell connection, but can still work in to make emergency calls. Others receive prompts to connect to satellite network.
According to NBC News, the wireless company with 146 million customers, started having connection issues around noontime. Major cities like Washington D.C. and New York emergency notification systems sent out notice to it's residents about the issue, advising them that if they had an emergency situation come up, and were not able to connect to 911 because of the outage, to try to connect from a different carrier's device, a landline or physically go to their nearest police or fire station for help.

Some IPhone users were still able to make and receive calls through over their wifi, if they enabled their settings.
Demand on other carriers, as calls are rerouted through other towers, has increased as well.
There's no official word on when the network will be restored. We will update the story as more information becomes available.
