Watch Maine CDC Director Nirav Shah Rick Roll Briefing Viewers

Maine CDC briefings on the COVID-19 pandemic in Maine can sometimes take a turn you don't expect with CDC director Dr. Nirav Shah, and today was another fantastic example of that.

There's one thing we learned very quickly about Dr. Shah when he began leading Maine CDC briefings back in March. He has a great sense of humor that he can interject into his reports that can lighten the mood a bit.

One of the things people in Maine have been concerned about during the pandemic is contact tracing, a method used to identify people who may have come into contact with someone who may have COVID-19. For example, by taking a person's name and phone number who is in a party of people eating at a restaurant, if at some point later the restaurant learned that someone had been there with COVID-19, they have the information to contact that person to advise them and their party.

In Thursday's briefing, Dr. Shah went into describing how contact tracing works and ran down a list of all the things it doesn't do, like disclose your name, track your cell phone or gather any other private information.

Then suddenly, Shah started listing things Maine CDC contact tracers are never gonna do and it sounded very familiar.

Shah totally deadpan Rick Rolled everyone watching the briefing!

It's not the first time he's done something like this. During one briefing he nonchalantly dropped some lyrics to Prince's "Let's Go Crazy."
