The water was furiously streaming  over the Union River Dam in Ellsworth this past Sunday!  Watch the videos!

The dam situated between the Hancock County Jail and Grant Street was built back in 1907, forms Leonard's Lake, and draws it's water from Graham Lake, Maine's biggest man-made body of water!  It stands a little over 70 feet high and 500 feet wide!  It's owned by a Bermuda based company called Brookfield, and managed by a company out of Toronto. Hydroelectric turbines that produce power are located in the big house to the left of the dam.

Very rarely does one get to see such a volume of water flowing over the dam and then down the Union River!
