This week, we have two cool cats who are up for adoption as our Pets of the Week for the Hancock County SPCA. They're both very different in their personality.

Our first cat is a larger-sized tabby cat named Helena. She's brown and white and super spunky!

Medical Technician of SPCA of Hancock County, Annie Chalmers, says Helena was found as a stray in the Bucksport area back in December.

"A good Samaritan was feeding her, but when it started to get so cold out, they decided it was time she found her forever family. "

Chalmers says Helena is right full of personality.

"Helena can be a bit spicy sometimes, but she enjoys pets and playtime when she wants. She is not afraid to let someone know when they're doing something she doesn't like!"

We're told Helena sometimes has a hard time trusting that other animals aren't out to hurt her.

"Helena needs to be the only cat in her new home. Her time out on the streets has conditioned her mind to think of other animals as dangerous! She has consistently become nicer with more time she spends around her handlers. Helena will need a patient home where she can take all the time she needs to adapt to her life changes."

Our next cat, Ringo, is cool with other cats if that's more your speed.

"Ringo is a three-year-old black female cat. She is very playful and loves other cats. Ringo is good with all sorts of cats, she can stand her own to a bully and she can be loving and sweet to the mellow."

Chalmers says Ringo recently had a few kittens, but now with them, all gone, she's adapting to their new surroundings.

"She took a little bit to warm up to her new surroundings, but after seeing how other cats reacted to us, she decided humans arent that bad. Now, she is the first one to greet people when they walk into the room! She loves to be petted and played with. Ringo seems to be fine with humans of all ages. She is a gentle soul who would do well with respectful kids."

Both cats are up for adoption now at the shelter.
