Both the northbound and southbound lanes of Interstate 95 around the project in Bangor will have to be closed to accommodate road striping operations.

Next week, T. Buck Construction, Inc. of Turner, the general contractor of the  $5,968,445 project, will be bringing in a striping crew. This will mean the full closure of both lanes of the Interstate 95 at the same time for a period of time.

The northbound side of Interstate 95 will close between 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22nd and 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 23rd, and then the southbound side will be closed off to traffic between 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 23rd and 5:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 24th.

The work will be weather dependent, and if things change we'll keep you informed.  Detour signs will be up as well warning drivers of the full lane closures.

The work of replacing the old 60 year-old Ohio Street Bridge is nearing completion, and it will be fully operational and open to traffic sometime next month.

According to a Maine Department of Transportation press release, "The new structure includes non-corrosive materials to reduce future maintenance needs. The new bridge also provides an additional 18 inches of clearance for vehicles on the interstate. This project added a turning lane on Ohio Street for vehicles turning onto the ramp to travel southbound on Interstate 95."
