Louie the Lobster had been a mainstay at Peter's Clam Bar in Hempstead on Long Island, New York, for over two decades.  Miraculously enough, Louie never made it onto someone's plate, and now he's finally made it home.

Over the weekend, the owners of Peter's Clam Bar officially "pardoned" the 22 pound crustacean, and after a brief ceremony handed him over to Wardens to make the short trip back into the Atlantic.

According to an article in the New York Post, Bob Bayer, who is the executive director of the Lobster Institute at the University of Maine said, "“He’ll be just fine. There aren’t many predators who want to eat a big old lobster like that. Hopefully, he finds a mate — and lives happily ever after.”
