14th ‘Mecca On Sebeca” Ice Fishing Derby To Take Place In Dover-Foxcroft
It's certainly been cold and snowy enough for ice around the state to have firmed up a bit.

This is good news for folks who like to take part in a Piscataquis County tradition on Sebec Lake.
The 14th Annual 'Mecca on Sebeca' will take place on Sebec Lake over the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, February 22nd and 23rd.
Each year, the Dover-Foxcroft Fire Department puts on this huge ice fishing derby on the lake. Fishermen from all over New England come to try their hand at hooking a big one.
Organizer Rick Pembroke says the derby is something that people in the region look forward to taking part in each year.
"Cash fish, awards for adults and juniors! This has also turned into a great social event for All around the lake and the area! Come visit, fish with us, get into the raffle for great prizes, and socialize with old and new friends alike. "
Pembroke, says a lot of folks take part each year, looking to set or break records when they come.
"Our current record was set by Scott Nelson in 2016 with a Lake trout (Togue) weighing 16.43 pounds."
Pembroke says the time to get those tickets and win those prizes is running out!
"One ticket gets you into the derby and also eligible for our great shore prizes raffle!Just a little over one week away, get your tickets soon, you gotta get in it to win it! Come see if you can set a new Lunker (biggest fish) record!"
Pembroke says all State of Maine Ice Fishing rules and laws apply during the derby. For more information, you can reach out to him directly by calling (207) 242-2950.
