What a fabulous event to help those in Sullivan lead a healthy life, while remaining active in their home and community.

Age-Friendly Sullivan will hold the 2nd annual Health and Wellness Resource Fair at the Sullivan-Sorrento Recreation Center on Route 1, on Thursday, October 10th, from 12 noon until 4:00 p.m.

The event promises health screenings and other informational resources to help residents with issues that they face while aging.  There will be 20 registered vendors and admission is FREE to residents in Sullivan and surrounding Schoodic area.

Walgreen’s flu clinic, Northern Light Maine Coast fall risk assessments, and other screenings are among those early detection tests and prevention vaccinations scheduled to be offered.

Regional social service agencies will be on hand to enroll you in programs that will assist you to remain in your home with needed supports, as well as provide information to have on hand for when the need arises.   New vendors this year include Maine Organic Therapy, WindowDressers, and the Iris Network.

Healthy lifestyle information will be provided, as will the opportunity to learn about local resources available. Information for residents of all ages will be available throughout the afternoon.  Meet your local educators and legal experts.  There is still time to enroll in the new Bone Builders program beginning October 28th in Sullivan.

For those looking for support and information for end of life care, there will be hospice and assisted living facilities providing local resources.  A representative from the State of Maine’s Long-Term Care Ombudsman program will be available to provide expert advice and guidance.  After-life resources will also be on site to answer questions and provide material to assist you and your family to make difficult decisions with confidence.
