Don't sit home staring into your phone!  Get up, and help maintain and beautify your favorite National Park right here in Maine!

Lace up the boots, grab a rake, and be a "Drop-In Volunteer" for Acadia National Park this summer!

It works just like it sounds, just drop-in any Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday morning at 8:15, and help with the many projects out this season within Acadia!  Stuff like "cutting back vegetation along the trails and carriage roads, rebuilding small rock retaining walls, maintaining and rehabilitating hiking trails, maintaining historic vistas, and cleaning up at picnic and scenic areas", according to the Drop-In Volunteer: Trails, Carriage Roads and Outdoors Projects Facebook page.

Hey, experience it all this summer, and do something completely different like this.

Volunteers are asked to meet at Park Headquarters just off the Eagle Lake Road in Bar Harbor. Staff and other volunteers will meet you right there and hand out the tools needed for that day's duties and will then transport you to the job sites.

Dress like you'll be working out in the Maine woods, because you will be.  Boots, gloves and bug spray are recommended.  Bring your own food and drink.  Here's who you contact for more information:  Dana Petersen at 207-288-3934 or dana@friendsofacadia.org Dana is the Friends of Acadia Stewardship Coordinator.
