No doubt I am an animal person.  True to that, I can see that if you have empathy for one living thing you most likely have it for others. And not that I am always right but a new study backs me up saying that animal lovers  are usually more caring people in general.

A developmental psychologist Megan Mueller at Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University studied more than 500  people ages 18 – 26 most of whom were women. She asked each one about their opinions of and interactions with animals and what she found is that those participants who cared for animals were also more likely to take leadership roles and be active in their community. These findings were even more acute in those who had had animal attachments starting in late adolescence.
