Yuck, there's a grocery cart filled with trash in that stream!

Card Brook, which flows across High Street behind Pizza Hut and the Ramada Inn, and eventually into the Union River, has always been notorious for collecting debris such as plastic bags, various bottles, cans, and other grossness during the late fall and winter seasons.  Every year at this time, residents of Ellsworth and beyond don their gloves and boots, to clean up the small waterway.

The annual Card Brook clean-up will happen on Saturday, May 5th, beginning at 9 a.m.  Volunteers are encouraged to meet beside Hannaford, to the right of the building, in the Maine Coast Mall parking lot.  Be prepared for the elements, as you would be working in a wet and muddy environment.   Trash bags will be distributed for you to fill up, and will be collected on-site.

Things should be over by 12 noon.  Snacks will be provided.  For more information or to RSVP call 669-6615, or email sfuller@ellsworthmaine.gov
