Here's a fun event for any kid and also those bigger and very much older kids who absolutely love trains!  The Annual Touch A Train event, now in it's fifth year, will happen this Saturday, June 9th, between 9 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

Check out everything that the Downeast Scenic Railroad is doing out at the Washington Junction Rail Yard in Hancock, just a quarter of a mile from the Ellsworth city line.  The boys have been out there restoring locomotive 470, a train engine that resided in Waterville for many years, after retiring from the Bangor run.  Check out how they're coming along and touch this historic train powerhorse!

During the event, folks can sit in a diesel locomotive cab, see and touch real locomotive equipment, and also take a caboose "hop."

The event is FREE!

A special one and a half hour train ride will depart the Yard at 12:30, and the cost is $13 for adults and $6 for kids.  Part of the cost will go towards the restoration of locomotive 470.
