Augusta Man Dies Following Crash Involving Motorcycle and Car
A young man is dead as a result of a crash in Augusta Thursday morning.
Deputy Chief Jesse Brann with the August Police Department says the incident took place around quarter till 9 on June 6th. It happened where North Belfast Avenue and Lamber Avenue meet.
Two men from Augusta, one driving a gray Chevrolet sedan, the other a motorcycle, collided.
"The operator of the sedan, a 77-year-old male from Augusta, was making a left turn from Lambert Avenue onto North Belfast Avenue at the time of the crash. The operator of the motorcycle, 21-year-old Hunter Davis of Augusta, was traveling east on North Belfast Avenue at the time of the crash. "
Davis was taken by Life Flight to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where he died of his injuries several hours later. The older gentleman, who had been driving the sedan, was taken by members of Augusta's police and fire departments, to nearby Maine General Medical Center where he was evaluated and treated for minor injuries.
The Augusta Police are working with members of the Maine State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit to determine what caused the two men to collide.
They say the crash remains under investigation.
