OSHA Looking Into Death Of Glenburn Man Crushed By Retaining Wall
The Pistcataquis County Sheriff's Office and OSHA are looking into what led to the death of a man from Glenburn at a worksite in Brownville earlier this week.
According to the Sheriff's Office, emergency personnel were called to the scene of a collapsed retaining wall just before 3 PM Tuesday. Sheriff Deputies along with members from the Three Rivers Ambulance Service and the Brownville, Milo, and Dover-Foxcroft Fire Departments all responded.
"EMS personnel worked on the injured person. Their efforts to resuscitate the victim were unsuccessful and he was pronounced deceased. The victim, Stephen Lane, age 67 of Glenburn died from the injuries of the retaining wall collapsing on him."
We're told work crews had been making repairs to an area around a small railroad bridge. Authorities had the area of Brownville Junction closed down for a time on Tuesday. Some folks in the area had to park along the side and walk along the tracks to get to homes on the other side. The road was reopened later that night.
Our deepest condolences to Mr. Lane's family.
