Weigh In On What Worries You About Bangor, Maine’s Streets
Where, within the Greater Bangor Area, do you think could use improvement when it comes to travel safety. Which roads, intersections, sidewalks and paths do you think could use some attention?
In order to make the greater Bangor area a safer place, the folks from the Bangor Area Comprehensive Transportation System or BACTS as it's often called, want your input.
"We lead regional transportation and related planning efforts, bring funding to the region, provide transportation-related services to municipalities throughout Penobscot County, and as the region’s designated Metropolitan Planning Organization we evaluate and approve proposed transportation improvement projects."
They have put out a survey and they are looking for the public to weigh in on where they think the problem areas are, and what should be done about it. They say the information will be used to identify the areas of the city people want to see improved.
"Take the survey linked here to tell us how you use our region's transportation system and areas that could use improvement. Your response is anonymous and will be used to inform priorities and recommendations in the FHWA Safe Streets and Roads for All planning initiative."
They say the survey takes between and 10 and 15 minutes to complete.
Some of the questions ask about specific modes of transportation, others ask where people want to see the money spent, such as traffic calming measures, improving sign visibility or sidewalks, public education and outreach or increased police presence, for example.
