Cans Of Beans Filled With Fentanyl: MDEA Disrupts Drug Ring In Corinth

Three people have been arrested, so far, in connection with a month-long investigation into an alleged drug trafficking ring in Corinth.

The Maine Department of Public Safety says 36-year-old Dusty Bickford and his wife, 33-year-old Jessica Bickford, both of Corinth were transported to Penobscot County Jail. Also arrested was 23-year-old Jefferson De La Cruz-Bonilla, of Massachusetts and the Dominican Republic. The trio was taken into custody this week, each one of them charged with Class A-Aggravated Trafficking, due to their alleged involvement in distributing large quantities of the suspected drug, Fentanyl.

"Early Wednesday morning, March 30, 2022, MDEA agents, assisted by the Maine State Police Tactical Team, executed a search warrant on a Black Road home in Corinth, Maine. "

Public safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said a large amount of cash and suspected drugs were recovered as a result.

"Seized during the search warrant was approximately 2.8 pounds of suspected fentanyl along with approximately $3000 in suspected drug proceeds."

Almost as creative as the couple arrested last year after disguising 4 lbs of cocaine as a cake, the Department of Public Safety says these suspected drugs were located in an unusual place.

"Most of the fentanyl seized was located within sealed cans of beans."

Both Bickfords had their bail set at $10,000. There was no bail set for Jefferson. Moss says there are more arrests likely as this investigation is still ongoing. All parties are expected to be arraigned at a later date, in Bangor.
