A 20-year-old man from New Hampshire died while swimming in Bar Harbor Thursday, authorities say.

The Maine Department of Marine Resources says several law enforcement and rescue agencies were on hand for hours Thursday afternoon, in the vicinity of the water around Clark Cove, investigating. They were searching for a man who had gone swimming in the area, earlier in the day, and apparently ran into some difficulty in the water.
