Collins, Pingree, And Golden Win
Results are still coming in this morning, but at least one Maine race has been decided as Dr. Jay Allen has conceded to incumbent Congresswoman Chellie Pingree.
It's been a crazy election year and, as expected, there are few results this morning. Election officials are sifting through mail-in absentee ballots, others absentee ballots that were dropped off at polling places, ballots from people who voted in-person on Tuesday, and the ranked choice voting process. Most of the races are very close this year, with no clear, runaway winners, so they're tough to predict.
In one case, however, the lead was great enough, however, to prompt one candidate to take to Facebook to concede the race to his opponent. Dr. Jay Allen posted a gracious concession speech to Congresswoman Chellie Pingree, who has been re-elected for a seventh term, representing Maine's 1st Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.
According to the Portland Press Herald, as of 6:30 Wednesday morning:
- Susan Collins 51%
- Sara Gideon 43%
U.S. House District 2
- Jared Golden 53%
- Dale Crafts 47%
