Broadway Dysart’s Restaurant Forced To Close Mondays & Tuesdays
Staffing shortages are all the rage right now
It seems everywhere you turn right now, businesses are having a hard time keeping staff, for any number of reasons. Whether it's because the business closed for an extended period during the first part of the pandemic and folks moved on, or they left their line of work altogether to try something different.
Especially in the service industry. It's a hard, hard lifestyle, where you often give up your nights and weekends, or you get out of bed at the crack of dawn every day. There's no such thing as a Monday to Friday, 9 to 5 job in the restaurant business. It just simply doesn't exist. This is why many folks decided to try something new.
Even Maine's most iconic restaurants aren't safe.
This leaves many places struggling to keep up and keep their places running. You'd think that bigger places, with more name recognition, wouldn't suffer as badly. But it's just not true. That's why Dysart's restaurant on Broadway in Bangor has announced that they will be closed Mondays and Tuesdays, to try and combat the shortage.
According to Fox ABC Maine, when they spoke to management, the closure wasn't just because there wasn't enough staff, but those that are working need a break, and sadly, right now that means closing the doors, which is not ideal for any business. They say there's plenty of customers, just not enough staff.
Again, it's a hard lifestyle in a fast-paced and stressful industry. Hopefully, over time, these issues can work themselves out, but that remains to be seen. With rising covid cases, it's hard to say what will be next for Maine businesses. But hopefully, it doesn't continue to mean that businesses have to suffer.
