Elderly Orrington Couple Found Dead In Home; State Police Investigate
Maine State Police are looking into the death of an elderly Orrington couple this morning.
Authorities were called to the couple's home at 476 Swetts Pond Road in Orrington at around 9 AM Wednesday, according to Maine Department of Public Safety Spokesperson Shannon Moss.
"The homeowners, Russell and Lois Swanson, both 89 years old, were found deceased. The husband and wife were discovered by a family member. The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit and Evidence Response Team were called to help investigate the circumstances of the deaths. That investigation continues at this time."
Police in Orrington did request help from the Orrington Fire Department for a short time, to control traffic, and eventually shut down the dead-end street.
Moss says there is no known risk to the public relating to the situation. They have not yet released the couple's cause of death.
We will update the story when more details are released.
