Chefs of Maine is an organization of restaurant owners and chefs and related food people. They are located in Hancock County and have an event coming up next Wednesday, the 10th, that you might love. An English Muffin Pizza contest. It’ll happen at the Provender Kitchen & Bar on Main Street in Ellsworth, from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.

There will be a group of area chefs that night that will compete for the honor of best English Muffin Pizza. The public is invited to attend and for a cost of $10 per plate, will get to try 5 English Muffin Pizzas, and vote on your favorite to help choose the winner of best pizza.

A portion of the $10 benefits Loaves and Fishes food pantry. Beer, Wine and Mixed Drinks available for sale.

You will find they do lots of very interesting evenings, including cooking classes.  Couldn’t we all use some lessons. The Mrs was a professional chef and I’ve learned some very basic, but important things. You are more likely to cut yourself with a dull knife, so sharpen your knives and then be careful. Cut your vegetables evenly. If you take the time to cut them more evenly, they’ll cook more evenly. Taste everything as you go along, and that way you can adjust it if something doesn’t taste right.  My biggest lesson learned is Stay out of the Kitchen.

Thanks to Chefs of Maine in advance, and to all get out and enjoy, learn new things, savor those English Muffin Pizzas and feel good for helping out Loaves and Fishes food pantry.
