The "Great American Meatout" is this Wednesday.  According to the Meatout's website, it's a day for us to try healthy foods and save the lives of 8,000 animals.

The Meatout is hosted by FARM, the Farm Animal Rights Movement.  The goal of the Meatout is to get 25,000 people to eat vegan this Wednesday. Eating vegan has it definite benefits, it's good for heart health, it prevents diabetes and certain types of cancer, and it saves the lives of animals. Also, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations estimates that mass livestock production is responsible for up to 18 per cent of global greenhouse gas emissions, now that's a lot of flatulence.

Recently, Sir Paul McCartney has been promoting Meat Free Mondays, where he has been asking people to eat and experience vegan meals one day of the week.  He and others claim that eating vegan "one day a week can make a world of difference"!

In my houselhold, we've been experimenting with vegan dinners, and you know if you put a little effort into it, dinner turns out pretty delicious!

So, do the world a favor and maybe try going vegan one day this week.  Because we do know, "it ain't gonna kill you"!
