Time once again to clean out Grammy's medicine cabinet before someone else does.

National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is this Saturday, October 26th, and there's plenty of places to safely drop off those old and unused medicines, no questions asked.

In Ellsworth, the Hancock County Sheriff's Office will be set up with the Ellsworth Police Department, and Healthy Acadia at the Ellsworth Chamber of Commerce Building, right off High Street in Ellsworth, in front of Reny's, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

These other police departments in Hancock County will also be accepting unwanted prescription drugs between  9 a.m. and  to 1 pm. at the following locations:  Bar Harbor, 37 Firefly Lane, Bucksport, 89 Franklin Street, Mt. Desert, 21 Sea Street, and in Southwest Harbor, at 26 Village Green.

Most police and sheriff's departments across the state have drug drop-off boxes located in their lobbies that are accessible during normal business hours.  Departments will accept any type of drugs, but don't allow anyone to drop off new or used needles, or "sharpies" of any kind.
