We recognize what they have given.

In honor of National Peace Officer's Memorial Day, Governor Janet Mills has directed that all United States and State of Maine flags be flown at half-staff today until sunset.

"Maine women and men in uniform defend our right to peace and safety every day, and many have given their lives in pursuit of that noble cause. While we can never fully repay them for their service and sacrifice, we can honor their dedication and commitment to our state," said Governor Mills. On behalf of the people of Maine, I express my deepest thanks to every member of our law enforcement community and their families.

Remember, it is also National Police Week, a great opportunity to thank a cop for what they do for us every day and every night.
