Tonight’s mystery artists were touring with John Mellencamp as their opening act. When Jack and Diane was a hit and their album wasn’t doing as well he suggested they swap places. Can you guess who the headliner was??

I found this story in Rolling Stone.  Seems that back in the early 80’s Heart was out touring to promote their sixth studio album ‘Private Audition’ and John was their opening act.  Now that particular album didn’t produce any hits meanwhile Jack and Diane went to number one on the charts. That is when  John came up with the idea of  letting him be the headliner and letting them be the opening act.  Well, no one can say that John lacks bravado. The girls however said thanks but no thanks the tour was sold out long before he came on board.
