Tonight’s mystery artist had no interest in music until a hit and run driver put him into the hospital and he was given a guitar during his recovery. Can you guess who got this startling start??

It is on Wikipedia I found this story of Stephen Pearcy of Ratt. Seems that he was only a teenager when his life would be changed by the hit and run driver.  Before that he wanted to be a racecar driver and nothing else.

The accident happened in 19733 as Stephen was riding his bike.  After which he would remain in the hospital recovering for 6 months. .During that time somebody gave him an acoustic guitar and he began to play, compose and follow a career in music instead.  Eventually he sang in San Diego bands "Firedome" and "Crystal Pystal" until creating and writing original music for his band which he named Mickey Ratt in San Diego created 1977.

Right now Stephen tours both with Ratt and as a solo artist,
