Tonight’s mystery artists are credited by many for popularizing Texas blues in the 1980’s. Popular with other musicians they opened shows for Eric Clapton and The Rolling Stones. Know who they are?

Well, this band comes by their love of Texas blues honestly since its founder hails from Dallas. As told at Allmusic the Fabulous Thunderbirds was started by Jimmy Vaughn initially with a guy named Kim Wilson and others. Jimmy would eventually leave the band to partner up with his older brother Stevie Ray and stay that way up until Stevie’s death. The Fabulous Thunderbirds replaced Jimmy as soon as he departed and fronted by Kim Wilson still plays many blues festivals today. After Stevie’s death Jimmy Vaughn stayed solo act.
