This is a little known fact about Led Zeppelin I found on Mental Floss about Jimmy Page.  According to them his reasoning was that he wanted to retain complete artistic control. That aside, it wasn’t a bad business decision either. The recording and mixing that took around 30 hours cost him about 1782 pounds or $4300.00 US. That debut album would go on to make over 3.5 million pounds or well over 4 million bucks US.
