Auburn Police searched a local man's home and business, which led to the seizure of illegal drugs, multiple firearms, and thousands in cash.

Where Were the Searches?

An investigation into illegal drugs led Auburn Police to pull over a vehicle at approximately 1:00 Tuesday afternoon. The driver of the vehicle, Darren Douin, 43, of Auburn, was found to be in possession of narcotics and a firearm. As a result of this traffic stop, police obtained and executed search warrants at Douin's home at 28 Grove Street and at his business, the Happy Days Diner, located at 67 Mill Street, both in Auburn.

What Was Seized?

The two searches resulted in the seizure of 70 grams of cocaine base (also known as crack), 55 grams of cocaine, 112 ecstasy pills, and 2.2 grams of crystal methamphetamine. In addition to the drugs, police took possession of 17 firearms and $25,530 in suspected drug proceeds, as well as other items consistent with drug trafficking.

Darren Douin faces the following charges:

  • 2 counts of aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs
  • 2 counts of unlawful possession of scheduled W drugs

Bail has been set at $30,000. Police say this is an active investigation and additional charges are expected.
