Maine Police Say 2 Face Multiple Charges After a Drug Bust in Friendship

Maine State Police seized a variety of illegal drugs from a Friendship residence this week, and now two people face charges.

Maine Drug Agents Have 2 Suspects in a Friendship Drug Bust

Scott Nason, 48, of Friendship is charged with:

• Assault on an officer
• Criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon
• Refusing to submit to arrest or detention
• Violation of conditions of release

In addition, Nason had 4 active arrest warrants for failure to appear.

Wesley Winchenbach, 48, of Friendship, was hospitalized after this operation due to drug use. Once he's released from the hospital, the police say he will be charged.

Friendship, Maine Investigation Into Drug Sales Included a Struggle With 1 Suspect

An investigation into illegal drug sales in Knox County included several undercover purchases of cocaine from Winchenbach, so the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency obtained a search warrant for his residence.

Before executing the search warrant, officials watched the house and saw Winchenbach and Nason's leave in Winchenbach's vehicle.

Agents had received confirmation that Nason had 4 active arrest warrants, so a Knox County Lieutenant stopped the vehicle.

But when Knox County Lieutenant Reginald Walker returned to his vehicle to confirm the warrant, Winchenbach started to leave, and Nason fled from the vehicle.

The Lieutenant pursued Nason on foot and subsequently caught up to him.

A struggle ensued, and Nason allegedly intentionally headbutted Walker in the face.

He was ultimately taken into custody, with the help of other agents, and a knife that he had held in his hand throughout the ordeal was confiscated.

Lieutenant Walker was taken to Pen Bay Hospital for medical evaluation and later released wth facial injuries.

Friendship, Maine Drug Bust Netted Cocaine, Meth, Fentanyl, and Pills

Winchenback fled back to his residence and was detained by the agents on the scene.

A search of the residence resulted in multiple seizures:

• 510 grams of cocaine
• 11.3 grams of crack cocaine
• 27 grams of methamphetamine
• 40 grams of fentanyl
• 81 ecstasy/MDMA pills

Officials say Wesley was significantly impaired because of drug use and was taken to a local hospital. He will be charged once he's released.

Police say more arrests are expected in this case.
