
Maine Sailboat Crash Claims The Life Of A Nova Scotia Man
Two people were rescued and the body of a Canadian man recovered after a sailboat crash near Isle Au Haut.
Maine Marine Patrol Officials Say 1 of 3 Passengers in a Sailboat Died in the Crash
Thomas Kent Smith, 72, of Nova Scotia perished in the crash that happened early Monday morning.
Two others, Robert and Sandra Comeau, of New Hampshire, survived the incident.
Maine Marine Patrol Officials Say a Sailboat Broke Apart Near Isle Au Haut
Their sailing trip turned tragic when the vessel ran across some rocks off the coast of Isle Au Haut.

The Comeaus told authorities that their sailboat started to break apart, forcing them into the ocean.
Mr. Smith and the Comeaus were all wearing life jackets and had been in the water for over an hour. Finally, Robert and Sandra were able to make it onto the shore near Cape Ann Ledge, on the southern side of Isle Au Haut.
They located Mr. Smith's body in the water and pulled him to shore.
A Canadian Man Died in the Isle Au Haut, Maine, Sailboat Crash But 2 Others Survived
Maine Marine Patrol officials were called at approximately 3:00 Monday morning and found the trio at approximately 5 a.m. Mr. Smith's body was recovered from the shore and transported it to an Ellsworth funeral home, where it will be examined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
Officials say the Comeaus were taken to Stonington where they were cleared by emergency medical personnel.
