A Landmark Bangor Building Got A Bit Of An Upgrade Recently
Back in December, news came out that the legendary Bangor Bar, The Main Tavern, was up for lease.

Main Tavern owners, Peter and Deb Brountas announced that they were retiring, and cast a line to see who'd be interested in taking over the space.
"We've had numerous offers to purchase the building as well as several people wanting to lease the space before we announced our retirement."
The bar takes up the bottom section of the landmark McGuire building that sits on the corner of Union Street and Main Street downtown. The building itself is also home to Bangor's legendary Robinson Ballet company, which uses the top floors as rehearsal space.
The building also acts as the canvas for the "Greetings From Bangor" mural, and the brightly lit "Hopeful" sign.
On The Main Tavern's Facebook this week, management shared that some major improvements have been made to the building, possibly to help sweeten the pot for anyone who might be interested in putting something new in there.
"The installation of a new Weil Mclain steam boiler was our Christmas gift to McGuire Block. It is now 100% complete. 22 windows were replaced in November with an additional 13 windows completed this past week...Thank You All for your messages of support and encouragement as we move forward towards retirement."
They said they have more exciting news to share in the near future, so we'll have to keep an eye out for more activity, improvements, and perhaps a plan of what will happen with the business in the future.
