Unfortunately, after events completely out of their control, the market had to close this week.
According to a post on The Salty Brick Market's Facebook Page, Owner James Gallagher says the store will be closed indefinitely.
"We are beyond sad to announce that we will be closed until further notice."
The Bangor Daily News reports that there was a stove fire on the 4th floor of the building above the Salty Brick, which triggered the sprinkler system and ultimately caused all the damage.
"Though the sprinklers extinguished the fire before it could spread from the stove, water flowed into 11 of the 13 apartments in the building and the Salty Brick Market on the ground floor...water from a sprinkler system upstairs rained into the space, ruining both the products and potentially the space’s infrastructure."
It's believed the sprinklers ran for about 30 minutes before they were turned off, the article states.

Gallagher, who also owns Bangin’ Whoopie, is currently working to clear the debris and come up with a plan to reopen. It's just not certain what kind of a timetable that would encompass at the moment.
In the meantime, he has offered his appreciation to area businesses and residents who have checked in on him and offered their support.
