Popular Bangor Pizza Place, A Staple On Concert Nights, Closed

A year after they opened, they're closing again, but not for good.

It seemed to be years in the making; Blaze Urban Pizza opened the doors to it's Main Street location in Bangor in December of 2023.

It quickly became one of the hottest spots, on concert nights, for folks to pop in, get a bit of pizza, and pop back out with plenty of time to check out whichever show was playing that evening at the Maine Savings Amphitheater across the street.

But as the concert season came to an end, the decision was made to shut down for a bit, and rebrand.

Earlier this month, management made an announcement on the Urban Pizza Facebook Page, that the restaurant would be closing for a bit to change things up, but that it would reopen eventually.

"We are staying here, we're not going anywhere, we're just going to revamp the concept, make some minor yet fairly significant changes to our service approach, to the food that we offer, and somewhat to the interior of the space as well...We do plan to change the name as part of this process, and we will introduce the new name and the new concept as soon as we have it all organized and put back together. Urban Pizza may very well pop back up in a different location sometime down the road, that's very possible, but for now it's time to change at this location."

They officially shut the shop during the first week in December.

The post went on to say how much they appreciated the folks who made an effort to stop by and visit during their inaugural year of business and that they hoped to reopen with a new name and plan, this coming spring.

Anyone with gift cards to the Urban Pizza restaurant will still be able to redeem those when the new version opens back up.
