A man who allegedly stole bags of returnables from charity donation bins in Orrington and other towns has been arrested.
Man Suspected of Stealing Returnables Has Previous Convictions
Lee Davis, 60, of Bangor is charged with felony theft because of prior theft convictions, criminal trespass, and criminal mischief.
The returnables thief has been an ongoing issue in the town of Orrington, with surveillance images of the suspect at the Ralph J. Pollard Lodge posted on town Facebook pages for months. These pics caught my attention because it's where I donate all of my returnables, so they will benefit people in need in my community.

Despite a No Trespass Order, the Suspect Allegedly Returned to the Lodge
On February 25, 2025, the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office received a report that the suspect was at the Orrington Lodge, despite a previous trespass order that required he not return to the property. While there, the suspect allegedly stole returnables and damaged a security camera.
Police Say the Thefts' Impact to Local Non-Profits Factored Into the Investigation
The Penobscot County Sheriff's Office has been conducting an investigation that revealed that the suspect had allegedly been involved in various thefts and trespass incidents in several communities. Officials say while each incident may not be substantial, the repeated behavior has impacted many, including charity groups.
