The time frame for opening was announced as 5 to 6 months after the beginning of construction, which was expected to begin in May last year.

And the name of the car wash was to be Shammy's Car Wash.

If you've been following this story and the construction of the car washes and have recently seen signage go up on Stillwater Avenue, near Bangor Mall, you might be confused.

It is obviously Washville not Shammy's Car Wash.

In September of 2022 Washville Car Wash acquired 4 fully entitled express car wash development sites from Shammy's both in Maine and New Hampshire.

This includes the location in Bangor, and also the location in Brewer on Wilson Street, across from Down East Toyota. Both locations have identical very similar designs and looks.

Washville Car Wash in Bangor is expected to open in August. Although from the exterior of the building, and from the new pavement and direction signs painted on that new pavement it looks like they're closer to opening than that. However, they are still working on the electrical on the interior of the operation.

Washville Car Wash, based in New Hampshire, now has nine sites in operation, and 15 more in development in the North East. And with these two in Bangor and Brewer, a couple more numbers will change columns from development to operation.

Once they open, Washville will offer monthly membership programs for unlimited washes, which is a strategy of the company.
