Did you know that Maine is the proud home of a traveling female logging show?  Yup, it is!

The Axe Women Loggers of Maine, are a group of LumberJills that travel this country and beyond showing off their skills and they originate from Bar Harbor.  The group is led by Alissa Harper, and comprised of world champion women from all over that have won various logging competitions.

If you're fortune enough to see these ladies in action, you'll observe world class champion competition in underhand chopping, cross cut sawing, log rolling, and axe throwing, among various other things that neither you or I could ever dream of doing, well.

There's no doubt, these girls could kick your ass, but they're not "big and burly."  In the video above, Harper goes on to explain, "All my girls are beautiful and feminine, and I think that sometimes people are actually a little surprised by that."   As a matter of fact, the Axe Women Loggers of Maine have their own calendar for sale!

Besides Harper, the current line-up features two other women from Maine, Michelle Morse of Eastbrook, who is the Athletic Director at Narraguagus High School in Harrington, and Laurette Russell of New Gloucester, who is a Nursing Unit Assistant at Maine Medical Center in Portland,Maine.

These axe wielding ladies will spend the weekend of July Fourth at the Heritage and Freedom Festival in O' Fallon, Missouri.
