This guy needs a new home for the holidays, and he's willing to trade a bunch of love and affection for it.

Dr. Magnum, or as they call him at the SPCA of Hancock County, Mags or Dr. Mags, is a beautiful lab with a sleek black coat and big brown eyes just begging to go out for a walk.

He may be 7 years old but he is spry and only wears his years with wisdom; he is already house trained, barks when he needs to go outside for relief so you know exactly what he needs and when, and is a good boy on a leash.

Dr. Mags is diabetic and makes life easier for his carers by being excellent about getting his daily insulin shots, which is a small price to pay for companionship, protection, and a whole bunch of loyalty and love.

Mags is a rescuer’s dream dog, as he might not be the average person’s first pick, but he is a sweetie who needs a home with a big heart to adopt him.

Dr. Mag’s one caveat would be living with other dogs: he’s okay meeting up with them on walks and such, but living with another dog would stress him out. So he would prefer to be the only pup of the house. He can be a little shy at introductions but quickly warms up to people. This good boy needs a good home this winter!

We're hoping that you may be interested in Mags, or possibly know of someone or a family who may be.  Schedule an appointment to meet him in person!

As a reminder, the SPCA of Hancock County is still operating by appointment-only for the safety of the animals, as well as visitors and staff. If you are looking to adopt, please check their website where they have an adoption application and the available animals listed. For general inquiries, please call them at 207-667-8088, email info@spcahancockcounty.org, or send them a Facebook message.

By the way, this Sunday Santa will pay another visit to the SPCA and he'd love to have a picture taken with your dog!
