
While It Ranks Last Nationally, This Easter Candy Is Maine’s Top Candy Pick!
While the Easter Bunny may hopping through puddles of ice and slush, he's still due to make an appearance this weekend, as folks all over the world celebrate the Easter holiday this Sunday.
A big part of Easter, for many, included baskets of colorful eggs full of special candies, often chocolates and jelly beans, to mark the occasion.
Over the years, the offerings of Easter candies have expanded, so now, in addition to the usual options, there are now things like flavored Peeps, Pez, Starbursts and Reese's' eggs.

With so many options to choose from, we wondered what Mainers hope end up grabbing from their Easter baskets this year.
According Eric Rodriguez with Inner Body, Maine sits close to the top, at #16, in a national rankings for the biggest Easter 'sweet tooth' in 2026. But what Mainer's choose as their favorite is at the very bottom of everyone else's list.
"Maine is the only state to crown Cadbury Creme Eggs — even though the candy ranks dead last nationally. "
Well, there you have it.
While a good deal of the nation seems to prefer the sugary marshmallow mess of a Peep, here in Maine, we want a mess of a different kind. Rhode Islanders are the only other sadistic suckers out there with us. That's saying something.
I feel like that tracks. We like a good challenge up here in Maine, don't we?!

Does anyone know the best way to eat one of those, by the way. I'm still trying to figure that out? Do you pop one in your mouth whole, in one big go, or do you bite of the top and slurp out the insides.
