"To clarify: The Alamo Theatre is only pausing the weekend movies temporarily. We are not selling! This isn't a financial crisis. When Everyone is ready and comfortable sharing inside spaces again we will be back and look forward to it very much."

That was the message on The Alamo Theatre in Bucksport's Facebook Page this week, as they addressed concerns they were closing for good, after posting earlier in the week that they were going to stop showing movies for a while.

As they mentioned, it really doesn't make financial sense to open and run a theater, when people are too nervous to go inside to watch movies at the moment.

It's a sentiment that's growing as the numbers of Covid cases are on the rise again and the Delta Variant seems to be ever-present on people's mind. More and more indoor events are being canceled or moved outdoors, when possible.

A number of people took to The Alamo's Facebook page to express relief and encouragement for the business, who like many, are choosing to err on the side of caution, having lived through a virus surge before.

Statements of support such as "It's the only responsible and sensible thing to do! Kudos to businesses doing the right thing!!" and "I think a super smart decision in light of all that’s going on, and certainly financially," reflect a community who stands by these choices, not made lightly, but in the best interest of the citizens of the town and the small businesses that call Bucksport home.

Alamo managements says they are not sure when they will resume showing movies, but very much look forward to that day.
