Bangor May Feel Like It’s Right Under The Blow Torch On Wednesday
Maybe that stupid groundhog was right?
It would seem this year, our weather is kinda like a car that won't stay running. We have these stretches where it's bitter cold, then we have a few days sprinkled in where we have way above normal temps that put a little dash of spring fever in the air. Then inevitably, it seems more bitter cold, or a big snowstorm backs it right up.
But looking ahead to Wednesday this week, the Bangor area could see some record-breaking temps. According to what I could find online from the National Weather Service and Wunderground.com, the record temp for this area on the 23rd of February is 60 degrees. We may easily hit that and go right past it this week.
On the other hand, this is Maine, so don't get your hopes all the way up.
The NWS and the Weather Channel, are a few degrees apart. NWS says 57 degrees, and The Weather Channel, which is the source I follow on an app on my phone, says it could go over 60. Look, if it only hits 58 degrees, I'm not going to complain we didn't break the record. And The forecast doesn't stay that way very long.
Looking ahead to Friday, there's also potential for another 6" - 8" of snow. So Mother Nature, as usual, is only giving us a little tease as we get deeper into spring. I suppose it's better than just bitter, dreary, cold all the time. At least having a little respite here and there can't be a bad thing.
So to recap, bring several changes of clothes with you wherever you go this week. It's either be freezing or way above average. Even today is gonna work its way towards 50, but I guess I'll still dress for winter.... just in case.
