One of the 1,514 bills being proposed this year by members of the Maine State Legislature is to make the Labrador Retriever the official state dog!

Why not?  The Labrador Retriever is the most popular breed of dog in the United States!

This family friendly and hunting companion dog comes in three colors too, yellow, black and chocolate!  Now how many other mutts can lay claim to that?

Labs originated in Newfoundland were they would work alongside fishermen who were pulling in their nets. The dogs would retrieve fish that escaped the netting. Bet they're aren't too many Labs doing that here in Maine now a days.

The bill to make the Labrador Retriever the official state dog will be proposed by Senator David Dutremble, a Democrat from Biddeford.

What do you think?

If not the Labrador Retriever, then what other breed would you suggest?
