There will definitely be people who miss Fiddlehead here in Bangor.

Bangor has always had somewhat limited "fine dining" options over the years. We've never been the food destination that Portland and other parts of Maine are. But we've come a long way over the last decade in particular. Fiddlehead was always a favorite spot of my wife and myself. We'll miss it for sure, but sometimes it's just time for a change.

A while back the owners of Fiddlehead announced that they were moving on, and it also mentioned when they'd found a new owner for the space. It took some time for the reveal of who made the purchase, but at the end of February, it was announced that the owners of The Butcher, The Baker food truck were taking over the Hammond Street spot.

New beginnings, new flavors, new vibe.

Just yesterday, The Butcher, The Baker announced that they were opening their doors this weekend for a soft opening. It'll be a chance to showcase all their fantastic menu items, and also a chance for their staff to get their feet under them while learning all the new info. It's a lot of work opening a restaurant from the ground up.

The soft opening basically means no large parties, and no reservations. And let's be real, it's going to be new to everybody. So definitely cut them some slack in these early days while they kick the rust off and get moving. Their menu looks like it's comfort food that's been kicked up several notches. Check out all that fantastic looking food on their menu right here.

Personally, I can't wait to get over and try it out. Their food truck was extremely popular, so expectations will be high for the new sit-down spot. So while it's sad to see one awesome Bangor restaurant go, I'm sure we'll all welcome this new/familiar name with open arms. That's what Bangor does best.
