Travel Website Lists Maine City as Best Beer City in the World

Just in case you didn't know the beer is wicked good here.

Another day, another travel site saying our beer is the best! Matador Networks listed Portland as the 'Best Beer City in the World.' IN THE WORLD! That's crazy! Especially since the list includes beer loving countries like Germany and Belgium. Fellow New Englanders in Waterbury, Vermont also made the list ranking #6.

The site specifically lists Allagash, Bissell Brothers and Maine Beer Co as the cities best. Technically Maine Beer Co isn't a Portland brewery, it's in Freeport. However, we can agree they are among the best in the area, and state for that matter. I stood in line for three hours to get my hands on their illusive Dinner DIPA last month. Yes, it was worth it! Recently, Food & Wine listed their Lunch IPA as one of the best IPA's in America

Matador Networks recommends flatlanders first stop at Novare Res for their giant selection of local brews on tap. They are also conveniently right by Oxbow, Rising Tide and Bunker Brewing for continued suds sipping. Then hop on the Brew Bus to see and taste the rest of Portland's breweries.
