Waldoboro Couple Who Caught Whopper Fish Getting Hitched
We first met Chris Benedict and Olivia Laine this past January, when we did a story about how this adventurous outdoorsy couple from Waldoboro landed a WHOPPER of a fish on an ice-fishing escapade in the Belgrade Lakes area.
Benedict and Laine, who have known each other for a decade, started dating about 3 years ago. They have a mutual passion for getting outside and enjoying what Maine has to offer, and they share that passion with their fans through a YouTube Channel called Fishin4adventure.
In January, they hauled in a 40" Pike, and took the state by storm with the pictures and video of their mighty catch!
So many folks took notice, they were even written up in Outdoor Life Magazine. It was at the end of that article, that it was hinted that their relationship, through their shared love of the sport, was destined for great things.
"Benedict is a merchant mariner, working on an Alaskan ship for two weeks, then two weeks home back in Maine. Olivia is a dental hygienist and works her schedule to coordinate with Benedict’s.
'When I’m home in Maine, Liv and I get outdoors as much as possible, fishing mostly, but some hunting, too,' he says. 'Her love for Maine’s fishing and the outdoors is the same as mine, and marriage for us is imminent.'"
Well, Benedict did finally make it official last month, on a trip to the Grand Canyon, of all places, overlooking Hopi Point.
According to the Fishin4Adventure Facebook Page post:
"Set the hook on the best catch of my life! So excited and thankful for life with my best friend!"
"We both are so happy about the recent engagement! Like we both said it’s something we both knew was coming and was right, feels amazing to have it be official"
Now that's one fantastic personal best!
Chris and Olivia, we wish you both the very best of luck and love in the future.
