It’ll Be 70+ Degrees Warmer This Friday Than Last, But There’s A Catch
Weather in Maine is so weird.
Last Friday night, my thermometer peaked out, or maybe I should say dumped out, at -21 degrees. Of course, the added wind chill got it down to allegedly -45. It was so cold my dog didn't wanna do any business outside for more than a minute. And this is a dog that actively rolls in snow and loves winter in all its forms.
Mother Nature always finds a way to tarnish an otherwise gorgeous day. We'll have abundant wind that day to offset the wonderful weather. It'll be 50, but if you calculate the winds, It'll feel like only 36 degrees at best.
I don't know if I'd call it once-a-generation cold like some did, but it was no fun. I had to leave the house for a little while that day, and there weren't even that many cars on the road. It seems most people hunkered down and stayed home. I wish I could've, but I got through it. I intend to survive many more cold Maine winters, hahaha.
This Friday will be nothing like last, except for one thing...
I took a peek at the forecast from the National Weather Service, and this coming Friday's temps will absolutely eclipse what we saw last Friday... in the other direction. This Friday, we're supposed to the mercury rise to at least 50 degrees. That's kinda crazy, right? Except for that 65 degree day we had last February.
But even without the wind chill factor, it's still going to be 70 degrees warmer than it was last Friday. But naturally, Mother Nature always finds a way to tarnish an otherwise gorgeous day. We'll have abundant wind that day to offset the wonderful weather. It'll be 50, but if you calculate the winds, It'll feel like only 36 degrees at best. I used this handy wind chill calculator we told you about last week.
So yeah... It'll be nicer than last Friday, but it's not going to feel like any kind of heat wave. You'll just be walking around in a wind storm wishing you were warmer, hahaha. But hey... it beats more snow!
