Looks like Old Man Winter has decided to arrive this week.

The National Weather Service informs us that a Winter Storm Watch has been posted for both coastal Hancock and Washington Counties for the entire day this Thursday.  Southern Penobscot County will also experience a weather event during this time as well.

Heavy snow can be expected throughout this Thursday in places like Ellsworth, Bar Harbor, Bucksport, Orland, Castine, Eastport, Perry, Machias, and Cherryfield. Total snowfall accumulations of 5 to 9 inches is very possible, and winds out of the north could gust as high as 30 mph. The National Weather Service says that the greatest potential for significant snowfall will be in Hancock County. Up to 4 inches of snow could fall in the Bangor area and throughout lower Penobscot County.

Expect slippery road conditions for both the morning and evening commutes along with blowing and drifting snow.  Certainly allow yourself some extra time to "get there" this Thursday as major roads like Route 1A between Ellsworth and Brewer, and Route 3 between Ellsworth and Bar Harbor could experience significant snowfall.
