WWII B17 Bomber At Bar Harbor – Hancock County Airport Jul 28-Aug 6
I remember when I was a kid my dad taking us to the Bangor Internation Airport to watch the planes land. I imagine that is where my love of planes comes from and this sounds like a show my Dad would have loved. Luck for me my boyfriend is also a fan of aviation so much so he works at BIA so I don’t think going will be much of a fight.
The Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress was the primary bomber used by the American Air Force against Nazi Germany. Of the 12,731 B-17s originally built, less than ten remain in flying condition and only a very few fly regularly
They will be shown in Bar Harbor by the Commemorative Air force Airbase Arizona Although they are offering flights on these historic planes I think my pocketbook will keep me on the ground a thrilling flight inside this historic war bird starts at $425.00 per person. However if you or someone you know is an airplane enthusiasts, perhaps veterans or history buffs I am thinking they would love seeing these famous WWII aircraft.
The dates they will be at the Bar Harbor Airport is Monday, July 28 - Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m each day. Cockpit tours are only $5; ground viewing and photo opportunities are free to the visiting public from 9a – 5p each day.
